Ingredients

1 stick Unsalted Butter
1/2 cup Walnuts chopped
1 cup Powdered Sugar
3 cups Whole Milk
3 Bananas sliced
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1x 8 oz package Cream Cheese softened
1 large container Whipping Cream
1 large package Instant Banana Pudding
1/2 cup Toasted Coconuts shredded

It’s easy.  And cheap.  And it’s very yummy.  It’s Banana Nut Torte.

Try not to eat it all.

Tips:

Really make sure the crust is cooled completely before you begin adding the layers.  Otherwise it gets all soggy and gross.

If you don’t like bananas, substitute the banana pudding for pistachio pudding and leave out the bananas.  Sprinkle with chopped pistachios.  Also yummy.

When you’re toasting coconut, it goes from nicely toasted to burned in under a minute.  Keep your eye on it!

Recipe Steps

Crust

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Combine softened butter or margarine, flour and 1/2 cup walnuts in a food processor. Pulse until walnuts are ground fine and everything combines into a doughy ball.

Press into a 9 by 13 inch baking dish. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Filling

After the crust is cooled, mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar. Beat until creamy. Stir in 1/2 carton of Cool Whip. Spread mixture on cool crust in an even layer.

Place 3 cups cold milk into a bowl and mix instant pudding until smooth. Before it is set, pour on top of cream cheese layer and spread in an even layer.

Slice bananas over this layer. This is what it should look like:

Cover bananas with the remaining Cool Whip. Sprinkle with toasted coconut and chopped walnuts. ( See finished torte at beginning of post)
